Types Of Media

You can upload several different types of media to the WordPress media library.

Images are typically uploaded in a JPG or PNG format.

Animated images, like Vector Icons, can be uploaded in JPG, PNG or SVG format. Uploading SVG’s is a bit more advanced though and you will probably need a plugin to make this work.

Using the ‘Add New’ button you can upload any of these media types easily from your WordPress dashboard.

Media Details

When adding photos to WordPress you will also have the option of customising:

  • Image title
  • Image description
  • Image alt tag
  • Image caption

The image alt tag is particularly important for search engine optimisation so make sure that you set appropriate titles, description, caption and alt tag on your WordPress photos.
